What's the contraversy?
When GW just came out there was some big contraversy like, Guild War's map and plot relate to real world events, or it's geography stands for something (Crystal Desert = Iraq? Ascalon = Europe? White Mantle/Kryta = USA?), I can't find the thread at the moment but I'll look for it. Well, why I'm bringing this up, I was in Ascalon going to different districts trying to sell some stuff, and there were people talking about the same topic. Unfortunately I must have come in at the last part of the conversation and after a minute everyone stopped talking or left. Can someone shed some light on this, it's driving me crazy!

well... if there is any truth to this I would have to call Ascalon Europe, and the US would be represented by the Rin, leaving Europe and forging a land of their own in a hostile environment.

Well, I'm not saying that, I'm just wondering what the true contraversy is.

That's quite a stretch. If the only way to compare GW to the real world is to use 16-18th Century history, then there aren't many similarities.

People who think this (game) relates to real-world events are in dire need of help... anything could be construed so it would "relate" to the world situation...
If I say I was walking through the park when I tripped on a kid's sandbox, the sandbox becomes iraq, I symbolize the US, the park is the world, and the kid is some terrorist organization... heh, children these days

Dont take it personal Garric, people here just cant let others have a conversation for the sake of fun... everyone is is an authority on what a waste of time others discussions are, welcome to guildwars. What's ironic is that, instead of just ignoring it and leaving it for people who decide to discuss it, they manage to take the time to flame you to tell you what a waste of thier time it is. :P

Controversy came when some dumb kids from high school who wrote a poem in english class thought that maybe everything that is fiction relates to real life. Now they have followers who are interested and actually believe this sort of non-sense.
Hey everyone Rurik is G.W. Bush ! Why ? Cause they both have hair ! And a mouth ! And arms ! OMG can't you see how closely tied they are ? Let's make a thread somewhere and get people to share this with.

You should take it personnally. Some people come to gurus to read posts that are worth something. Why can't this be posted somewhere more nubish ? You realize that every post has to be read by a mod and is also read by countless other members ? If you want to litteraly waste your time on ridiculous ''OMG Sand = Iraq = Crystal Desert = conspiracy'' that's fine with me but don't waste my time as well. - FLAME - ?

Why 16-18th century, is that the proper era for the Mursaat and Char to rule the earth?

I thought people would make an intelligent post and that is why I read it. You're part of the problem of why people say discussions should be stopped and what not. This was clearly a ridiculous thread and knowing how it is laced with stupidity I will stop reading it (so please don't say anything behind my back). Have fun transforming Undead Leech into Saddam Hussein while I'm gone

Perfect example of a forum troll, someone starts a conversation (not an important one, but some people might have FUN discussing) and you feel the need to interject your all mighty insight on what people should and shouldn't discuss. Odd Sock's Rule... it it isn't a serious discussion on the mechanics of the game or another thread about the UAS button, then no one is allowed to discuss it. What a self righteous fool :P

Im just a little tierd of everyone telling everyone how and what they should talk about, especially the idiot savants who obviously have some sort of control issue. Well they do have power over the mods on this board board that's obvious, but BFD!

Yeah, no kidding. Some person hears a story ingame and comes here to ask about it, and you get people busting out their doomsday speaches about how the forums are coming to an end with these noob posts and whatnot.

Ah, another thread where someone from iQ gets involved and another flamefest. Lovely.
As for this thread, there's a reason we have boards called Off-Topic and the Absurd or Questions and Answers.
